Stephanie recently concluded her service as a Globalscope campus minister in Santiago, Chile, and admits that the transition during the pandemic was a difficult one.
Greg and Eli Klass grew up thousands of miles apart, but the Christian influences in their young lives led both of them to the Globalscope El Oasis campus ministry in Santiago, Chile. That’s where they met, married, and now serve together. They recently stopped by our home office for a visit and shared a little about how it happened, how it works, and the amazing new thing they will be doing together.
Although they are spread out over three different countries, the CMF Globalscope campus ministers in Uruguay, Chile and Mexico share a common language and similar context and mission. The idea of getting together to share dreams and ideas that has been on the back burner for a couple of years finally gelled into the first-ever Latinscope in Lima, Peru, in early February.
Allison previously served as an exchange intern with this ministry in Santiago and now she can’t wait to go back long-term to use her degree in Spanish and enjoy the relational, open and welcoming culture of Chile. She also hopes to share her love of rock-climbing with students and draw them into the El Oasis Christian community.
The end-of-year banquet at the Globalscope El Oasis campus ministry in Santiago, Chile, honored 20 graduates from the ministry, but also included a send-off for the team that will plant a new El Oasis community in 2020.
The El Oasis campus ministry team in Santiago, Chile, celebrated three baptisms this semester, and each was an event that caused far-reaching ripples in the faith community, into the students’ families and beyond.
More than 115 university students from Globalscope’s two South American campus ministries were recently united by their love of Christian community at the El Oasis retreat in the coastal town of El Tabo, Chile.
Over the last few months, three Globalscope campus ministers have traveled between ministries, leaving their comfortable home bases to provide a change of perspective, a renewed vision and a fresh batch of new ideas.
