Romania

30 Years of Ministry. Same Leadership. Next Chapter with CMF.

For three decades, God has used a movement of pastors, churches, and ministry leaders in Romania to bring hope to children, strengthen communities, and share the Good News of Jesus. Beginning in 2027, CMF will continue and expand this ministry through a new partnership with Remember the Children (RtC), a ministry founded by Andy Baker in 1996.

Together, we are building on 30 years of faithful service while investing in a future of church planting, leadership development, community outreach, and disciple-making across Romania and beyond.

The Story of Remember the Children

Remember the Children was founded in 1996 after Andy Baker witnessed the challenges facing vulnerable children in Romania following the fall of Communism. What began as a response to immediate needs grew into a long-term ministry focused on helping Romanian communities care for their own people through local churches and Christian leadership. Over the past 30 years, RtC has developed partnerships throughout Romania that have transformed lives and communities through compassionate ministry and Gospel-centered leadership.

As RtC looked toward the future, its leadership began exploring succession plans that would ensure the ministry could continue to thrive for generations to come. Those conversations led naturally to a partnership with CMF, an organization committed to developing leaders, planting churches, and sending missionaries from everywhere to everywhere. Beginning in 2027, RtC will formally become CMF-Romania. The ministry's mission remains the same while gaining the long-term support and missionary-sending capacity of CMF.

Leadership

Andy Baker, Regional Director for Eastern Europe & Leadership Development

After founding Remember the Children and serving Romanian communities for more than 30 years, Andy Baker will continue providing leadership through CMF. In this new role, he will focus on mentoring pastors, developing ministry leaders, strengthening strategic partnerships, and helping guide the ongoing growth of ministry throughout Romania and Eastern Europe.

His experience, relationships, and passion for developing leaders will remain central to the future of the ministry while allowing a new generation of missionaries and leaders to expand the work for years to come.

Current Ministry Focus

Today, the ministry in Romania centers on strengthening churches and developing leaders who can bring lasting transformation to their communities. Key ministry areas include:

Leadership Development

RtC invests in Romanian pastors and ministry leaders through mentoring, leadership conferences, Bible education, and partnerships with organizations such as the Eastern European Bible College. The goal is to equip leaders who will serve the Church and multiply disciples throughout Romania.

Church Planting

Over the years, RtC has helped establish 17 churches in Romania. These churches provide spiritual leadership while also serving as centers of community outreach, discipleship, education, and care for families.

Children's Ministry and Community Outreach

Through camps, educational programs, tutoring, church-based children's ministries, and community support initiatives, local churches create opportunities for children and families to encounter the love of Christ in practical ways.

Refugee and Crisis Response

The ministry has also responded to regional humanitarian needs, including ministry among Ukrainian refugees. By working through local churches and trusted ministry partners, the team is able to provide both practical assistance and spiritual care during times of crisis.

Looking Ahead: The Future with CMF

As CMF assumes responsibility for the ministry's long-term future, our vision is not simply to maintain what has been built, but to help it grow.

CMF plans to recruit and send missionaries who will serve alongside Romanian leaders, strengthen existing ministries, help launch new church planting initiatives, and invest in the next generation of Christian leaders. Together, we envision a movement of disciples making disciples, churches planting churches, and Romanian believers serving as leaders not only in their own communities but throughout the world.

This partnership represents an exciting expression of CMF's vision of mission from everywhere to everywhere. We believe the future of ministry in Romania includes raising up leaders who will influence Eastern Europe and participate in God's global mission. The foundations have already been laid. Now begins the next chapter.
