My sponsored child’s community
The Cornerstone story started with long-time CMF team members in Asia, who have lived and worked in their community for decades. When they became aware of the many children who, for various reasons, do not fit into the country’s highly structured school system, they felt compelled to expand their ministry.
The result was a school with a unique grace-filled environment and open enrollment, that offers “Education for Every Child.”
The school gives children and families the tools they need to thrive. While education and necessities provide relief for families in need, a bilingual curriculum and special “catch-up” classes mean students can get back on track to join the local school. The school also helps build community and the Kingdom through trusted relationships. Both staff and parents have approached our local missionaries for counseling and prayer.
The school began with the goal of providing for local children with learning issues or difficult home situations, but soon expanded to include refugee children. Our CMF missionary said: “At the time we designed the school, we were not aware of the hundreds of refugee children in our city who have no way of entering the public school system. These families have fled war and unrest and are living in our city while waiting for a safer country to receive them”. Over half the students we serve are refugees from the Middle East, Asia, and northern Africa.
We invite you to join us in this vision as a Cornerstone Community Sponsor, committing to pray and give regularly. Your support will change lives by making it possible for children to receive a quality education, meals, clothing, and spiritual care. As a community sponsor, you will receive updates throughout the year.
A $90 per month gift will cover the program costs for one child, while also in many ways benefitting the entire community connected to the school. As local staff is employed and trained, families are given dependable care, freed from burdens that would otherwise keep them from thriving. Your support has a transformational impact for generations to come!
Cornerstone by the numbers
Cornerstone Community School began in 2016 with 3 teachers and 7 students in a borrowed classroom.
In 2017, the school rented a building with 8 classrooms for 5 years. Now in year 4, the school is outgrowing its facilities. Praise God this keeps meeting the need of so many!
Currently more than 60 students are meeting over Zoom but preparing to return to in-person classes soon.
