The Camino de Santiago
A Pilgrimage of Faith 2023
Would you like to join us on a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago trail AND support the Christian awakening that is happening all over the world through CMFI’s Globalscope Campus Ministries?
You can do BOTH as you join us for an eight-day, seven-night, 80-mile adventure walk from Baiona to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain from June 4 to 11, 2023.
Guests will traverse the Portuguese Coastal Route or “Portuguese Way” of the Camino stopping at dynamic seaside towns like Vigo in the heart of the Rías Baixas, famous for its Albariño white wine and delicious fresh seafood. This is a true pilgrimage and spiritual commitment marked by faith, culture, nature, and the sharing of stories that unfold along the Camino. Travelers will walk and reflect approximately 13 miles each day while enjoying the food, hospitality, people, and history of this sacred pilgrimage as well as the beautiful towns, villages, and scenic countryside and coastal views along the way.
This trip is more than just an opportunity to connect with others during a time of camaraderie, reflection, and gratitude. By joining CMFI along the Camino de Santiago, you will be supporting the international work of CMFI’s Globalscope Campus Ministries worldwide.
For over 20 years, the mission of CMFI's Globalscope Campus Ministries has been to transform the world’s university students through authentic and relevant campus ministry. Our goal is to go into all the world, campus by campus, building community, one student at a time. We target young men and women who have the desire to invest their lives in connecting this generation with God and serve as Globalscope international campus ministers, creating dynamic Christian communities on university campuses around the world.

How can you help?
After committing to join us, we ask you to spread the excitement about your upcoming journey by using your Camino de Santiago experience as an opportunity to spread Jesus’ message of love and hope through support of CMFI’s Globalscope Campus Ministries.
Each guest will commit to raising/giving at least $5,000 to support CMFI’s Globalscope Campus Ministries, with a collective team fundraising goal of $75,000. The funds will be used to support the growing number of international teammates now serving as Globalscope campus ministers (>33%) as well as activities held at the ministries’ campus houses, service projects in their communities, and opportunities to engage some of the brightest and most influential university students throughout this world with the gospel.

Currently, we have 14 different community and hospitality-driven campus ministries in nine countries through our Globalscope Campus Ministries initiative. Our missionaries focus on outreach and building relationships over a period of time which is why college campuses are the perfect environments to reach young students looking for a safe place to explore their faith.

Each day you will have an allotted time for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with some downtime for exploration and reflection. Your luggage will be transported from hotel to hotel as part of your accommodation on the trip, so you will not need to carry anything except a backpack along the trail.
The terrain is mostly flat along the coast but is a little bit hilly with daily ascents and descents of 400 meters. The trail is very well marked and the paths are well maintained, so there’s no need for heavy hiking books. The Camino Portuguese coastal is 50% on footpaths and 50% on quiet laneways. The trail is not a high-altitude hike, but it is still physically challenging and involves long walking distances with a backpack. Wearing durable, comfortable walking shoes will prevent blisters from occurring. In June, temperatures will be a mild 68 to 73 degrees, rarely falling below 59 degrees or exceeding 85 degrees.
