Reach is CMF's international internship program for college students and young adults who want to explore how God is at work around the world. Serve alongside experienced ministry teams, build meaningful relationships across cultures, and gain hands-on experience in a variety of ministry and professional settings.

Whether you're interested in campus ministry, healthcare, social work, business, media, music, community development, children and youth ministry, or other fields, Reach offers opportunities to use your unique gifts while learning from Christians serving around the globe.

As the world becomes increasingly connected, understanding God's global mission has never been more important. Through Reach, you'll learn from believers in other cultures, witness how God is working in different contexts, and grow in your understanding of what it means to follow Jesus in a global Church.

A summer that shapes you

Reach interns serve in a variety of countries and ministry settings each year. You might support university ministry in Europe, serve alongside healthcare professionals in West Africa, build relationships with students in Asia, or encourage local churches and community ministries in Latin America.

No matter where you serve, you'll gain cross-cultural experience, develop practical ministry skills, and discover new ways God can use your passions, talents, and future career for His Kingdom.

Brisbane, Australia

Interns in Brisbane will serve at The Garden, the Globalscope campus ministry in Australia! 

The Garden, situated near The University of Queensland in Brisbane, is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and grace-filled community for all university students.  

Interns will collaborate with CMF’s team to connect with students through a range of weekly events, such as Tuesday Night gatherings, Thursday free lunches, and various campus outreach activities.  

The intern’s primary responsibilities will be to plan events, help with music, cook food, lead small groups, mentor students and more! The Brisbane team is dedicated to showcasing the transformative power of Jesus in our lives by sharing their authentic Christian community with others.

Paraiba, Brazil

Despite its rich resources, many Brazilians face poverty and hopelessness due to a fatalistic worldview, prevalent job scarcity, drug abuse, and underage sex trade. Teammates are tackling these challenges through holistic ministry in western Paraiba. 

Interns will work alongside local partners and missionaries to support and advance this mission. They will get to experience holistic ministry through soccer outreach, teaching English to at-risk youth, and Community Health Evangelism (CHE) ministry through a local community center called Missão Ágape.

Santiago, Chile

Interns will serve at El Oasis, one of the Globalscope campus ministries in Chile! 

The El Oasis campus ministry is located near the heart of downtown Santiago, the capital city of Chile. Santiago is home to about eight million people, where 600,000 college students attend its more than 80 universities.  

The El Oasis Santiago team sets out week after week to spend time with students, showing them God's love through hospitality, the example of their faith-based lives, and genuine concern for their hearts. 

Here a few of the ways the team ministers to college students in Santiago: 

  • Holding a faith event every Thursday, where students can listen to a faith-centered talk, worship with the band, and write down their prayer requests. 
  • Through small groups that develop student leadership and where they are discipled. 
  • Generating service opportunities outside the community, with a focus on caring for the environment. 
  • Encouraging fellowship through social activities that seek to learn about love for others.

Viña del Mar, Chile

Interns in Viña del Mar will serve at El Oasis, one of the Globalscope campus ministries in Chile! 

Viña del Mar is a vibrant coastal city known as "The Garden City" for its many parks and green spaces. It's a popular beach resort, famous for its beautiful beaches, casino, and the annual International Song Festival. Located in the Valparaíso Region, it's known for its manicured lawns and upscale atmosphere. 

The El Oasis Viña team sets out week after week to spend time with students, showing them God's love through hospitality, the example of their faith-based lives, and genuine concern for their hearts.

Gloucester, England

Interns will partner with Gloucester Vineyard to make disciples, develop leaders, and plant churches. They will get hands-on experience in holistic ministry through community outreach, church planting, Discovery Bible Studies (DBS), and Disciple Making Movements (DMM). 
 
Interns will get to be a part of community-based outreach like Christians Against Poverty and Street Pastors. They will get the chance to walk alongside church planters in a young church plant in the city of Lincoln to foster and nurture disciple-making and community transformation.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

The CMF Ethiopia church catalyst team works with the Kristos Andinet Church (our national partner church) and other like-minded followers of Jesus to expand God’s kingdom in Ethiopia.  

Interns serving with the church planting team in Addis Ababa will have a unique opportunity to work in different contexts throughout the country. Interns will get the opportunity to teach and use their unique skills to benefit the growing and dynamic work with CMF missionaries and Ethiopian leaders.   

In addition to getting ministry experience in an urban setting working with low-income families, interns will also get to experience church planting work and teaching English classes in other rural locations across Ethiopia.

Tübingen, Germany

Interns will serve with Unterwegs, our Globalscope campus ministry in Tübingen, Germany! 

Interns will be able to get creative and help host weekly free meals, a free Café English, small Bible study groups, and service projects with local charities. Interns will practice language learning, grow in intercultural competence, drink a lot of coffee, and explore what it means to come along the way with others.

Students will be immersed in a diverse community and will help host various events and community spaces at Unterwegs. The summer will be a season of embracing warmth, learning to accept it gracefully, and discovering how to extend it humbly to others.

Abengourou, Ivory Coast

Interns in Abengourou will engage in a variety of impactful ministries. They will participate in the community sponsorship program where they will help run a summer crafting and sports club for the sponsorship program. The program provides school supplies, offers mentorship, includes spiritual care and supports children affected by HIV, many of whom are orphans. 

Interns will assist in the Women Together program that educates teen girls about women's health and self-worth from a Christian perspective, empowering them to live a life that honors God and their bodies. 

And finally, interns will build relationships and contribute through evangelism, home visits, leading a summer English club and a Bible story group, serving in the orphanage, and collaborating with local leaders. Interns will also get the opportunity to spend a few nights in a village with a local pastor.

Nairobi, Kenya

Through the partnership of our CMF missionaries working with MOHI (Missions of Hope International), interns will empower, strengthen, and invigorate the ministry of the local church. Interns will serve students, their families, and entire communities, experience Kenyan culture, and support the long-term workers in their ministry. 

They will engage a diverse array of people groups, spanning from the bustling slums of Nairobi to the rural plains of northern, southern, and western Kenya.

MOHI provides opportunities to engage in hands-on ministry in social work, teaching, sewing, cooking, preaching and teaching, medical missions, and microfinance education. If you’re seeking a chance to explore a variety of experiences, this location could be the perfect fit for you!

Mexico City, Mexico

There are two different ministry options in Mexico City!

Church Catalyst 

About 65 percent of Mexicans are categorized as poor in Mexico City. The biggest need is not just economic, but also social poverty. 

Interns will walk alongside the local leaders and CMF missionaries to support creative, holistic community development. They will serve in urban ministries, working with both the poor and middle class. Interns will focus on using their unique skills to benefit the growing and dynamic work with CMF missionaries and Mexican leaders. Their primary responsibilities will include working with children, leading VBS, and organizing day camps. Additionally, interns will have opportunities to teach English, participate in the worship and praise team, engage in sports ministry, and contribute to outreach efforts. 

Marketplace Ministry 

The Marketplace Mexico team, known as Emprende 31, serves in Mexico City, working with business-minded people to shine God’s light into the marketplace. The team empowers entrepreneurs by creating communities and providing faith-driven, professional business courses on how to grow businesses, how to maintain healthy workplaces, and how to do ministry in the workplace. The team facilitates the bridging of business and faith in the community.  

The intern’s primary responsibilities will be to plan events, help develop training for entrepreneurs, and support discipleship efforts through Kingdom Business principles in one of the largest entrepreneurial hubs in Latin America.

Maastricht, Netherlands

Interns in Maastricht will serve at Thuis, the Globalscope campus ministry in the Netherlands! 

CMF planted a Globalscope campus ministry at Maastricht University on the southern tip of the country. The university started in the late 1970s and has exploded in size, with about 23,000 students. Only 41 percent are Dutch; the rest come from all over the world, attracted by the university’s problem-based learning system, the majority of programs taught in English, and small class sizes.

The intern’s primary responsibilities will be to plan events, help with music, cook food, lead small groups, mentor students, and more!

Poland

Summer interns in Poland will have the opportunity to serve alongside Proem Ministries, a dynamic, locally led organization with a deep commitment to church planting, youth outreach, Christian education, and community development. Interns will play a key role in supporting Proem’s summer camps, which reach thousands of Polish and Ukrainian children and teens from across Eastern Europe.  

Interns will assist with daily camp programming while building intentional relationships with campers through sports, music, art activities, conversations, and workshops. You'll engage in relational ministry and have opportunities to share the gospel in a cross-cultural setting, while serving alongside hundreds of dedicated volunteers, counselors, and staff. In addition to camp involvement, interns will worship with Proem’s local church plants and may also serve during a summer festival outreach, gaining hands-on experience in international ministry while working alongside passionate local believers.

Romania

Through the collaboration between CMF and Remember the Children (RTC), interns will play a crucial role in empowering, strengthening, and revitalizing local church ministries in Romania. They will actively participate in RTC’s sponsorship program, which provides orphaned children with a home, food, education, love, and spiritual guidance.

Interns will also be involved in church planting efforts, offering education, tutoring, mentoring, spiritual leadership, and resources to children in rural villages through the local church’s outreach. RTC’s commitment to children extends to their families, fostering safer and stronger communities. Lastly, interns will engage with local leaders, learn from pastors, translate Scripture, and support leadership training initiatives.

South Asia

Interns will walk alongside locals and engage with them and their communities in meaningful ways. Their responsibilities will include teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), leading small group English clubs and facilitating Bible studies. They will encourage emerging leaders in churches and community projects, utilizing Disciple Making Movement (DMM) principles and the Discovery Bible Study (DBS) method. 

Interns will also implement and teach Community Health Evangelism (CHE) principles to serve and empower impoverished communities. Interns will get to use their unique skills and abilities to serve their community. If you are interested in business and education while carrying out intentional ministry through relationships, this could be the location for you!

Southeast Asia

Live in the heart of a vibrant, predominantly Muslim community, immersing yourself in a new culture as you learn a new language, walk alongside locals, and participate in their daily lives in meaningful ways. As an intern, you’ll build genuine friendships with people from a variety of backgrounds and beliefs, seeking to understand and love them as Christ does. Through shared experiences and open conversations, you’ll discover how to express your faith in ways that connect within their cultural context—breaking down barriers, fostering authentic relationships, and reflecting the welcoming love of Christ.

Arusha, Tanzania

Interns who serve in Tanzania will have an opportunity to work with local missionaries and Tanzanian young adults in various projects. We have a 12-member band of talented Tanzanian musicians whose vision is to share the message of Christ through music and media in areas such as worship concerts, photography, videography, social media development, podcast production, and more.

Interns will get to incorporate their passions and gifts through performing worship services, assisting with summer camp programs, hosting short-term visitors from America, and developing relationships with mentors and peers serving in and around Arusha. If you have any skills or interests in media, communications, or music, this might be the perfect opportunity for you!

Bangkok, Thailand

Interns in Bangkok will serve at Grapevine, the Globalscope campus ministry in Thailand! Grapevine is based in the suburbs of Bangkok just off the campus of Thammasat University in Rangsit. This university of more than 25,000 students is a prestigious and respected school whose students are known for their strong voice in national affairs. The primary focus of the Grapevine team’s ministry is relational evangelism: being and making disciples in authentic community to enrich the lives of Thammasat students.

Interns will serve in this dynamic, urban international campus ministry by using their skills to meet new students and help build up the community. Interns will help lead small groups, use sports for outreach, cook for weekly events, teach and share life with Thai college students.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

Interns working in Chiang Mai will join in the team's goal to transform lives and communities, especially those trapped in cycles of poverty, with the Good News of God's Kingdom. 

Interns will be part of forming and supporting creative, holistic community development-focused ministries within areas where selling children to traffickers to survive is prevalent. 

The interns’ main responsibilities will be to teach English in a children’s home or Thai school. Interns will create, prepare, and execute English lessons. They will also have opportunities to lead discipleship groups and prepare activities for village communities in Thailand. There is an additional opportunity for interns interested in disability ministry, including special education, occupational therapy, and physical therapy in a residential home for disabled children.

Montevideo, Uruguay

Interns in Montevideo will serve at La Ruta, the Globalscope campus ministry in Uruguay! CMF planted its eighth campus ministry in an area between two major university campus hubs in Montevideo, with a focus on La Universidad de la República – the oldest, largest and most prestigious university in the country.

Interns will serve in this dynamic campus ministry connecting with university students. They will utilize their talents to welcome new students and help strengthen the community within La Ruta. Their responsibilities will include leading small groups, organizing weekly faith events, preparing meals for gatherings, mentoring students, and more!

Indianapolis, USA

Interns with a heart for non-profit and organizational experience in a mission organization can serve at the Indianapolis office of CMF International. Interns can use their unique skills and studies to serve in Communications (Content Creation and Graphic Design) and Advancement (IT support, grant writing, and administrative support)!  

While seeing the ins and outs of the organization, interns will plug into a local church partner of CMF in Indianapolis and experience hands-on mentorship in ministry and the local community.

Is REACH right for me?

Reach is designed for college students and young adults who want to explore God's global mission through immersive, hands-on experience. For more than three decades, Reach interns have served alongside CMF ministry teams in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and beyond.

Every internship is different, but each one offers opportunities to learn, serve, grow, and be challenged. You'll experience new cultures, build lifelong friendships, and discover how God is working through His people around the world.

Depending on your placement, you may have opportunities to:

What is REACH?

REACH is an eight-week summer internship experience for young adults. Teams of interns travel to countries where experienced CMF team members live and work and join them in hands-on field ministry.

What is the schedule for 2027?

May 24–July 25, 2027

Pre-Departure Orientation in Indianapolis - May 24-27

On the field - May 28-July 21

Debrief in Indianapolis - July 22-25

How much does a REACH Internship cost?

An internship costs $7,000 per person for each field. These funds cover your entire internship, including your passport, visa, immunizations, pre-departure training in Indianapolis, flight, field and ministry expenses, and much more!

How old do I need to be to participate in REACH?

Internships are for college students and young adults, typically ages 18-30. You must complete at least your freshman year of college before the internship.

Is this a paid internship?

No, but we will assist you in raising your own support and provide tax-exempt receipts from CMF for your donors.

What other services does CMF provide for its interns?

CMF will assist you with passport and visa procurement, travel arrangements, medical requirements and packing.

Will I receive any training before I leave?

CMF provides extensive training through a required four-day Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) in Indianapolis. Interns learn skills in team building, language learning, cross-cultural adaptation, and building relationships, and receive spiritual preparation and specific pre-field training.

Who will supervise my activities on the field?

You’ll receive guidance and oversight on the field from veteran CMF team members and their partners.

What happens when I return to the US after my internship?

Before you return home, you’ll complete your internship with a three-day Debrief that will prepare you for re-entry and help you process, maximize and bring closure to your mission experience.
