Getting back to the ‘new normal’ in Mexico

“Our churches are back in full swing here!”

That’s the good news from CMF church planters Greg and Vicki Syverson in Pachuca, Mexico, about the four church groups they are working with in different parts of the city.

  • Nueva Semilla is meeting outdoors on the land they are preparing to purchase and add a building. They are working to prepare a temporary structure to use until they can build something permanent. Right now, about 80 people out of a congregation of about 120 are attending weekly services. Thirteen cell groups meet during the week and some church members also do weekly ministry at a drug rehab center.
  • Nueva Vida has multiplied into two groups: Nueva Vida and Nueva Vida South. The group that meets in the Nueva Vida building has about 40 in attendance on Sundays.
  • Nueva Vida South is made up of seven couples/families who all live in the south of the city. They are meeting only on Zoom until they find a place to use/rent for in-person meetings.
  • La Viña is a very young, growing and dynamic church. They currently meet online and have in-person meetings once a month.

La Viña is a young, dynamic church that meets mostly online right now. Here they hold a worship service on Facebook Live. The Nueva Vida church has returned to meeting in their building on Sundays.

“It is exciting to see what God is doing in these churches,” said Vicki. “We feel so privileged to be able to work with these four church groups in different parts of the city.”
