Move vital ministry forward by giving where needed most.

CMF/MOHI Transition

A Vision for Growth

CMF and MOHI began working together 16 years ago to support children and their families in the slums of Nairobi and other disadvantaged communities throughout Kenya. Since that time, partners like you have joined us in the journey. Working together, we have seen more than 20,000 children receive an education, 15 churches planted, and thousands of families rise out of poverty through holistic transformation. Thank you for the critical role you have played in this ministry.

As we have prayed together and planned for the future, it has become clear that there are ways for us to be even more fruitful in our ministries. We believe that the most effective way for both organizations to grow in our ministries is to transition Mission of Hope’s U.S. operations to an independent and dedicated team. We see this future autonomy over U.S. operations as a beautiful example of God’s blessing and the culmination of a successful partnership.

As a part of this transition, we have created a new entity called MOHI LLC to further establish Missions of Hope in the United States. We are hard at work upgrading technologies, assessing staff roles, setting up a MOHI U.S. office, and further establishing the MOHI brand. The CMF office team will continue to support MOHI child sponsorship and projects throughout this transition, ensuring that your partnership and donations are handled without disruption and with the utmost integrity.

We know that the coming months will require extra effort while we work through the countless details before us. Thank you for making these ministries possible. We continue to rely on your partnership, prayers and patience and we seek God’s will and strive to bring hope and transformation to the world.

Frequently asked questions about the CMF/MOHI transition

Q: How does this transition benefit CMF and MOHI?

A: Both MOHI and CMF have extensive ministries with plans for significant growth. Within 10 years, MOHI would like to see 100,000 children in their sponsorship programs operating in multiple countries. Continuing in CMF’s 70-year history of sending teams to do cross-cultural ministry in partnership with local ministries, plans are to have at least 300 missionaries serving in 40 countries within 10 years.

We believe that having a dedicated U.S.-based team that focuses solely on the needs of MOHI will best position both organizations to grow in the ways that God is leading us.

Q: When will the transition take place and what do I need to do?

A: The transition will take place on November 12, 2020. At that time, information on giving will be securely transferred to MOHI LLC and they will be able to accept donations through their website and office.

For a quick guide on how your partnership might be changing, we invite you to review the chart and corresponding explanations below. Detailed information on how to continue giving to the people and projects you care most about follows.

Q: Where do I send my regular checks/donations?

A: Some giving will transfer over to MOHI and some will remain with CMF:

Which areas of giving will transfer to MOHI?

MOHI Child Sponsorships: All MOHI child sponsorships will transfer to MOHI. This means that after November 12, MOHI child sponsorship payments or MOHI child sponsorship questions should be sent directly to MOHI. Children in the MOHI program will continue to receive the same great education and holistic care, as these changes only impact the U.S.-based administrative side of our program. Any ongoing communication regarding MOHI child sponsorships will also come from MOHI.

MOHI Relief Efforts: All MOHI relief efforts, such as COVID-19 or Back to School Renovations, will transfer to MOHI. This means that after November 12, MOHI relief giving or MOHI relief giving questions should be sent directly to MOHI. Please see the contact information listed below. Any ongoing communication regarding MOHI relief efforts will come from MOHI.

MOHI Projects: Most MOHI projects will transfer to MOHI (there are three exceptions in the CMF section below). This means that after November 12, MOHI relief giving or MOHI relief giving questions should be sent directly to MOHI. Please see the contact information listed below. Any ongoing communication regarding MOHI projects will come from MOHI.

Which areas of giving remain with CMF?

Missionary Support: All giving toward missionaries, including those working with MOHI, will continue to receive their funding, care and development through CMF. CMF and MOHI will continue in partnership through the sending and serving of missionaries.  CMF missionaries currently working with MOHI include: Wallace & Mary Kamau, Keith & Kathy Ham, Joel & Mercy Brock, Chris & Krystal Settlemoir, Tim & Alicia Stewart, Patrick & Katie Gerber, Rebecca Fielding, Andria Moushon, Nikki Youngs-Stahl, Raelyn Nicholson and Deanna Rebello. CMF missionaries will remain in long term partnership with MOHI, and will continue to receive their funding, care, and development through CMF.

Three Projects: While most projects will transfer to MOHI, there are three whose giving will remain with CMF: BigDent Microfinance Ministry, Discovery Discipleship Camp (Angaza) and Hope Sports Ministry & Fields.

CMF Child Sponsorship: If you sponsor a child with CMF who is not a part of the MOHI program, that giving will remain with CMF.
