Globalscope Celebration: ‘Inspired and encouraged for ministry’

Seventy-two campus ministers gathered in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico, in July for Globalscope’s annual Celebration. Members of the Globalscope steering committee, CMF staffers, invited guests, and children brought the total to 121 CMF-related people who were together in Cholula for the entire week.

The campus ministers included current team members from all 13 Globalscope campus ministries plus some recruits who will launch new Globalscope ministries in Cork, Ireland, and Viña del Mar, Chile, in 2020.

Celebration is a time to learn and worship together, share ideas, and collaborate with friends from around the world who are doing similar work in different contexts. The event’s speakers included Jeremy Lawler, Dr. Jack Holland, and Laura Beth Richardson.

The theme of the week was loving God with our minds, our hearts, our bodies, and our souls, and each day focused on one of those topics. Worship was led each day by Globalscopers and included music in English, Spanish, and German. Each afternoon the campus ministers participated in various workshops and panels, and at meals these ministers formed cohorts based upon ministry areas of interest that will continue to connect throughout the year.

The Globalscope El Pozo team did an excellent job coordinating logistics for this large event and were able to host everyone for dinner on Tuesday night at the campus house (la casa verde) so their colleagues from around the world could see what ministry to students looks like in Cholula.

A highlight of each year at Celebration is a dinner where Globalscope celebrates milestones from the year together and honors those who are concluding their service on the field. Then, the week traditionally concludes with a time of communion and a generous financial gift towards a specific team, missionary, or family. It’s the perfect snapshot of what Globalscope is all about — God doing something big through ordinary, faithful people who are committed to sharing God’s love with the people around them! And this year was no different. These Globalscopers left the week encouraged and inspired for another year of ministry to university students!
